Gridview rowupdating causesvalidation

gridview rowupdating causesvalidation-76

I am using a Template Field to display my Edit, Update and Cancel 'buttons' in the first column of the Grid View within respective Item Template and Edit Item Template fields.

The Columns collection stores all the column fields in the control and enables you to programmatically manage the column fields in the Grid View control. For more information, see Introduction to the Validation Controls.THE PROBLEM: You are going on your merry way coding a Grid View (not using a SQLData Source or anything, just the database flavor of the day) and you can't get that update link/button to fire off any event, let alone the Row Updating event that you want to fire.THE ANSWER: Making sure that Button Type="Link" and Causes Validation="false" appears to fix the problem. Thanks As I mentioned earlier, I added all updating events (Row Updating, Row Updated, Updating and Updated) and set a breakpoint at each. It's not getting to my update method (Set Additional Insured) at all.******************************************************************* Actually all the parameters in the update method have to be the same name as the database column names eg.BLL class I have the following update method: Hi: Please set breakpoints in Grid View's Row Updating and Row Updated event handler.

So my options are basically a.) leave the handlers but removed the On Row ETC from my Grid View OR remove the handlers in the code behind and leave the On Row ETC.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

If you did it the same way, each update column name in your design page must have the same name as the parameter names in your update method in the BLL class and possibly in the same order.

Also I cannot find the field name in Grid View which is the same to the update parameter name.

Hi payalp, The Update Parameters names are not equal to the names of New Values in Row Updating event. Sql Client" Select Command="select * from [spiderwebs_region] order by name " Update Command="Update Region With History" Update Command Type="Stored Procedure" Delete Command="Delete Region With History" Delete Command Type="Stored Procedure" On Inserting="Sqldatasource1_Inserting" On Inserted="Sqldatasource1_Inserted" Insert Command="Insert Region With History" Insert Command Type="Stored Procedure" Hi payalp, I suggest you assign the values to parameters directly in Row Updating event: Sql Data Source1.

The Grid View control can be bound to a data source control (such as the Sql Data Source control or Object Data Source control) or to any data source collection that implements the System. Note The Grid View control can provide support for sorting, updating, and deleting with other types of data sources.
